Andrew Jensdotter's large-scale abstract paintings begin with an exploration of representational images culled from various sources such as glossy fashion magazines and the internet. As the title implies, in this example, Jensdotter paints multiple depictions of Bob Dylan layering each on top of the other. The artist then slices the surface to reveal rings of buried color that subvert the original subject material.
