  • Catalogue Essay

Bovet's pays tribute to their historical past with opulent modern wristwatches that recall the days of their founder Édouard Bovet and the fine enamel and pearl-set openface watches he made in the 19th century. One of their signature designs is the convertible Lépine-style 'Amadeo' pocket watch case, which can be worn as a wristwatch, a pocket watch or set on top of a table as seen with the present timepiece.

The Fleurier Amadeo is a wonderful mix of the artistic and the mechanical, featuring a 7-day manual wound movement with skeletonized tourbillon and power reserve on the black guilloché with applied Roman numerals. The 44mm diameter case is enhanced with a diamond-set bezel with 56 diamonds for a total diamond cut of approximately 4.64cts.

Accompanied by an 18k white gold watch chain, this is a timepiece that can fulfill many possibilities and is tribute to the expertise and inventiveness Bovet brings to their watches.

    Bovet

    Swiss • 1822

The firm Bovet 1822 has a rich, centuries-long history beginning when Edouard Bovet sold four decorative pocket watches in Canton Asia for what would today equal $1 million. By 1822, Edouard, with his brothers, registered the company in London, which at the time was an important center for watches and clocks. That same year, they moved their manufacturing center to the Swiss municipality Fleurier. Bovet became known for their highly decorative pocket watches for the Chinese market. Their richly engraved movements were so important to the watch that Bovet created the concept of the transparent watch back so owners could see the beauty of the movement. Bovet's oversized chronograph wristwatches, such as the Mono Rattrapante chronograph, are especially sought-after. Today, the firm continues their tradition of exquisitely enameled watches.
