Heesoo Kim - INTERSECT: Online Auction Hong Kong Wednesday, September 21, 2022 | Phillips
  • Born and raised in Seoul, South Korea, Heesoo Kim has been gaining recognition for his fragmented portraits, through which he explores modern men’s existential crisis in relation to themselves, to others, and to society.

The present work Untitled is from the artist’s signature series Normal Life. A man sits quietly by himself, with his elbows on the knees, being absorbed in thought. A sense of deep exhaustion kicks into the picture through the use of dark and rusty tones, revealing an internal struggle and confusion that resonate profoundly amongst ordinary people living in the fast-paced modern society.

Kim has participated in solo and groups exhibitions in museums and galleries in South Korea. His latest solo exhibition Normal Life was held at Unit London from 9 August to 10 September 2022.
