The IWC Portugieser is one of the firm’s most celebrated and iconic models with its heritage dating back to the late 1930’s during the rise of the wristwatch. As a special request from two Portuguese businessmen requiring wristwatches with the precision of marine chronometers, IWC incorporated a pocket watch caliber 74 and encased it in a wristwatch. The result was far beyond what anyone would have expected at the time.
In 2011, IWC released the ref. IW371447 featuring a self-winding chronograph caliber with two vertical registers. Featuring its traditional case design with iconic chronograph pushers distinct to the Portugieser, the watch is an instant classic. Paired beautifully along with a black dial, the present timepiece displays a subdued elegance. In 2020, IWC launched a new model replacing the present which now makes the present discontinued model a nice and attractive piece to acquire.
Presented in brand new and unworn condition, the present lot is further accompanied by the full set of accessories.
With a clear focus on technology and development, the Swiss watch manufacturer IWC Schaffhausen has been producing timepieces of lasting value since 1868.
