    - In the annals of Formula 1, Michael Schumacher's 2002 season stands as an historic accomplishment that cemented his status as the world's preeminent racing driver. That year, Schumacher captured an unprecedented fifth Drivers’ Championship title, equaling the record set by Juan Manuel Fangio over half a century prior. Omega, for whom Schumacher has served as an ambassador since 1995, honored this milestone achievement with the Speedmaster Racing World Champion 2002 Schumacher, a limited edition chronograph fusing motorsport sophistication with timeless allure.

    - Beyond its association with Schumacher and Omega’s role as official timekeeper of Formula 1, the limited edition piece channels the essence of high performance. Its dial is crafted from carbon fiber, the advanced composite material fundamental to modern race car construction. The vibrant red accents delineating the “RACING” inscription, hour markers and date track pay homage to the colors emblazoning Formula 1 vehicles. The caseback bears the engraving “WORLD CHAMPION 2002” and Schumacher’s signature, highlighting the watch’s provenance as a tribute to an historic season.

    - The self-winding Omega cal. 1151 movement powers an array of functions including hours, minutes, small seconds, day, date, month and chronograph. The chronograph minutes register at 12 o’clock incorporates the day and month, with “Sunday” in red to signify Formula 1 race day. The chronograph hours register at 6 o’clock features a checkered flag motif. An additional GMT hand points to the date on a scale encircling the dial. As with all Speedmasters, a tachymeter scale on the bezel enables calculation of speeds from 60 to 500 km/h based on a reference distance of 1,000m.

    - Limited to 5,555 pieces, the present reference numbered 2,522 translates the raw power, precision and endurance of Formula 1 into a chronograph of bold style. For devotees of motorsport and Omega’s timekeeping heritage, this special edition Speedmaster preserved in excellent overall condition celebrates a legend who redefined the limits of possibility on the track.

    Omega

    Swiss • 1848

Omega's rich history begins with its founder, Louis Brandt, who established the firm in 1848 in La Chaux de Fonds. In 1903, the company changed its name to Omega, becoming the only watch brand in history to have been named after one its own movements. A full-fledged manufacturer of highly accurate, affordable and reliable watches, its sterling reputation enabled them to be chosen as the first watch company to time the Olympic Games beginning in 1932. Its continued focus on precision and reliability ultimately led their Speedmaster chronograph wristwatch to be chosen by NASA in 1965 — the first watch worn on the moon.

Key models sought-after by collectors include their first, oversized water-resistant chronograph — the reference 2077, early Speedmaster models such as the CK 2915 and 2998, military-issued versions of the Seamaster and oversized chronometer models such as those fitted with their prestigious caliber 30T2Rg.
