  • Catalogue Essay

Patek Philippe’s now discontinued ref. 5960 was initially introduced in 2006, fitted with an elegant grey dial encased in platinum. This was an exciting launch for the manufacturer as it was not only the very first self-winding chronograph wristwatch they ever manufactured, but it was also their first attempt to fit these complications together with an annual calendar. Later released in other golds and stainless steel variants, the present example is offered in a warm and inviting 18K pink gold case, that perfectly pairs with its sleek black dial. Featuring a set of the day, date and month apertures, a power reserve indicator and a sub-dial for the chronograph with a day and night display, this is a prime example of the flawless execution in form and function, by its creators.

The sapphire caseback invites the wearer to admire the Patek Philippe in-house calibre CH 28-520 IRM QA 24H. Compact yet competent, this movement is composed of 456 different components that corporate to power the annual calendar chronograph watch seamlessly.

This is a fine and rare specimen, offered in excellent condition and is accompanied by its setting pin and presentation box.
