The title of this unique work, Last of the "100 lbers" (100 lbs ivory/side), refers to ‘100 pounders’ -- elephants with tusks that weigh 100 pounds. According to the Peter Beard Studio, the additional photograph tucked into the frame is typical of works that were kept in the artist’s home in Montauk, New York.
