Catalogue Essay
“I was in Ireland on a story and the four of us went from Desmond Guinness’s castle to Castletown Mansion where a big party was being given. I saw this painting in the hall, and began to pose them for a shot. Within a few minutes a local Irish press camera crew gathered around and began shooting the shot the way I had it set up. We all shot it.” Slim Aarons speaking on the present lot: Marianne Faithfull, the Honorable Desmond Guinness, and Mick Jagger at Castletown Mansion, Ireland, 1968
