Catalogue Essay
Circular-cut is considered an unusual cutting style for coloured gems. It is neither the best cutting to display colour, nor the most time-efficient way to fashion irregularly-shaped roughs. Aside from a pleasing outline, this 2.19-carat ruby also possesses a saturated body colour with superb clarity, attributes rarely found in natural unheated Burmese specimen, deeming it a collector's stone.
