Self-love thus push'd to social, 2015, highlights Ziegler’s contemporary take on history paintings. Renown for bringing together motifs derived from a wide range of sources, we see in this instance the use of a Nineteenth Century landscape painting, The White Horse, 1818 -1819, by John Constable. Ziegler is often erasing the clear distinction between figuration and abstraction; yet the similarities these two works share is evident, particularly in the treetops and surrounding foliage.
