Evoking stylistic motifs and the colour palette of fellow Spanish artist Joan Miró, Xavi Carbonell’s delicate paintings depict a dreamscape intended for reflection, inviting viewers to take a dive into his idiosyncratic universe. Complex in its process and transparent in its resolution, Carbonell has built his own visual lexicon equipped with particular motifs and aimed at purifying the image with a child-like touch, inspired by artists such as Basquiat, Cy Twombly, Antonio Saura, and Abstract Expressionism.
Born 1971 in Alcoy, Spain, Carbonell has exhibited in numerous galleries, museums and art centres, including Arteinversión, Carmen de la Guerra (Madrid), THEMA (Valencia), CADA (Alcoy). Xavi Carbonell is represented by Art Angler Gallery, New York and Caelis Galleria, Shanghai.
