    “Origin means from where someone comes from and it has never been a singular notion for me. Origin for the post colonial generation could have a number of meanings, like the profusion of colours in the feathers of a peacock or like the rich colour display in a kaleidoscope. I use African fabric in my work because of its complex origin. When I was at Art School in London, there was constant pressure on me to produce traditional African art, but for someone with a multiplicity of cultural experiences, the idea of a pure notion of “African-ness” didn’t make sense to me”
