In 2002, Audemars Piguet introduced their first ever Concept watch to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the traditional Royal Oak series. With the Royal Oak having developed a celebrity status and recognized as the most iconic wristwatch produced by Audemars Piguet, the concept watch shares much of a similar design but with innovative and advanced application of materials and engineering.

The present example is the CCW1 with a forged carbon case and a ceramic bezel. This watch is highly technical in terms of its movement architecture though it is light in weight thanks to the forged carbon case, ceramic bezel and the titanium deployant clasp. The watch features an open worked bridge, double vertical scale, tourbillon, power reserve indicator, dynamographe indicator and function selector. Presented in overall very good condition and further accompanied by the original warranty and box, this is an attractive modern and technologically advanced timepiece.

The brand is devoted to preserving the history of watchmaking in the Vallée de Joux, showcased at their superb museum in Le Brassus.


Today, the brand is best known for its Royal Oak models, a revolutionary luxury sports watch launched in 1972. Other key models include early minute repeating wristwatches, vintage chronograph wristwatches, such as the oversized reference 5020, perpetual calendar watches and the Royal Oak Offshore, first introduced in 1993.
