• Peter Speake-Marin founded his watch brand, Speake-Marin, in 2002, specializing in time-only and complicated watches featuring rare and unique dials that combine traditional English and Swiss watchmaking. The Piccadilly was the first model to be offered by the brand. Today, Speake-Marin is an established independent Swiss brand under new ownership since 2012, manufacturing bold, modern timepieces with impeccable craftsmanship.

• The result of the entrepreneurial spirit of a young Japanese engraver, the artist behind the dial and movement of the present “Phoenix” remains unnamed to all except the watchmaker. The young engraver wished to make a dial for the Piccadilly – one that was representative of his own style. The dial features a floral interpretation of a phoenix, the mythical bird that perpetually regenerates, and has a single diamond inset.

• The FW2012 automatic movement also features complementary engraving, with a stylized phoenix feather and floral whorls.

• Numbered 1 of 1 and in crisp overall condition, with hardly any signs of wear, from a prominent collector of independent wristwatches.
